BCTC uses brainpower to boost DCCF
Broadstone Chamber of Trade & Commerce’s latest annual quiz night raised £690 for Dorset Cancer Care Foundation (DCCF).
The event, led by Martin Layton of MSL Designs Group Ltd, with William Gardiner and Lynette Conroy of Cargo Lounge saw the War Memorial Hall packed to the rafters.
William was quizmaster for the evening, AKA ‘Billy the Quiz’ and entertained teams between rounds with hilarious balloon-blowing and paper aeroplane-making competitions.
The hard working team at Cargo Lounge provided the food and bar, along with food from Tina Bales at Molly’s Café.
Martin said: “The annual quiz is always popular and this year it was sold out weeks in advance.
“We supported The Broadstone Christmas Lights, Dorset County Scouts and Dorset Cancer Care Foundation (DCCF) – and I nominated DCCF, which helps families which are experiencing financial difficulties because of cancer.
“Having lost my own mum to cancer it feels good to know that our fun night for the community will be helping other Dorset people.”
Meryl Ponsford, a trustee of Dorset Cancer Care Foundation said: “It was one of the best events I have been to in ages. Really great fun and wonderful to see the community coming together and raising money for a local charity.
She continued: “Everyone who attended or supported the quiz in some way can be sure that their donation will go straight into our High Five Appeal, which seeks to raise £250,000 in the next year for the many families which need our help.”
William Gardiner of Cargo Lounge added “We are planning another quiz for DCCF this year and hope the community will come forward and give its support.”
People wishing to donate to the High Five Appeal, to stage their own fundraising event for DCCF, or those who think they might be helped by the charity are asked to visit: www.dccf.co.uk or telephone: 07593 890879.
