Become part of a charity which helps Dorset people experiencing cancer
Dorset Cancer Care Foundation (DCCF) was set up by Poole residents Eve Went, Pam Jeffries and Leslie-May Harrison in 2012, and has since given financial support to hundreds of Dorset people affected by cancer.
Each woman had been touched by cancer, either personally or through friends and relatives, and on their journey, learned much about other people’s needs and concerns, especially the added financial burden caused by their diagnosis.
DCCF gives awards which can cover the cost of everything from hospital travel costs to counselling, childcare to respite breaks and home modifications and accommodation costs.
The Foundation also supports and works with other Dorset-based cancer groups, organisations and hospitals and has funded an out of hours treatment room at a local hospice, a large part of the new therapeutic garden at Royal Bournemouth Hospital and a special room for teenage patients at Poole hospital.
But of course these awards are only possible with our supporters’ help.
DCCF’s amazing members help us to raise money to fund awards by attending our events and also holding their own.
Whether they run a coffee morning or a bake sale, take part in a sponsored run or cycle, sell raffle tickets or simply spread the world about what we do, our supporters are our ‘everything’.
We would love to hear from anyone, of any age, who is interested in becoming involved in DCCF.
We are a friendly charity which covers the whole country of Dorset, and would particularly like to attract new fundraisers and supporters in the west of the county, in Weymouth, Portland and Bridport.
