Buzz Bingo Poole is to hold a series of fundraising events in the next 12 months to support Dorset Cancer Care Foundation (DCCF) – starting with a Take That versus Jersey Boys-themed tribute night on November 16th.
Mark Thomas, the manager of the Tower Park venue said: “After raising some really impressive amounts of money in recent years for national charities, the staff and management decided we wanted to put our support behind a local good cause which is doing great things in our own community.
“Cancer is sadly something most of our staff and customers have been touched by in some way, and when we learned how DCCF is supporting local families through the financial pressures caused by cancer, we knew we wanted to help as much as we can.”
DCCF was set up in 2012 and gives financial grants to Dorset-based cancer patients for everything from special equipment and short breaks, to living and housing costs.
Mark continued: “As soon as we put DCCF collecting tins on our bar and counters, they started to fill up quickly and they also started to spark conversations about people’s own experiences of cancer.
“There is a real passion amongst our 32 staff and many loyal customers to do what we can for this great charity.
“We will be kicking off our events for DCCF on November 16th with a Buzz Bingo Evening Session with a Take That versus Jersey Boys Tribute band. The £15 ticket price includes a welcome drink, rock and roll bingo starting at 7pm and all entertainment, and £5 from each ticket sold will go to DCCF.”
He continued: “Just as I had expected, my staff have really hit the ground running on this.
“We are planning to sing a Take That song to boost the collection for DCCF.
“We’ve also got plans for more themed nights throughout the year and a Christmas jumper day in December. We intend to come up with a really impressive fundraising total for DCCF by the end of 2020.”
Nikki Davies-Thomas, DCCF’s Administrator/Head of Fundraising said: “We were obviously thrilled when we heard that the team at Buzz Bingo Poole is supporting us.
“The staff and their customers are a fabulous bunch of people who are full of passion for helping people going through cancer in their community.
“We are immensely grateful for their support and hope other local companies will be inspired by them and also consider fundraising for DCCF in the coming year.”
Tickets purchased through Nikki Davies-Thomas will result in £5 being donated to DCCF. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org or phone: 07593 890 879.
