Removal firm helps puts DCCF on the road to success
Poole-based Francis Removals is raising awareness of a local cancer charity by taking it on the road.
The owner of the business Wayne Francis, has paid to have Dorset Cancer Care Foundation’s (DCCF) logo painted on his removal van to encourage more people to seek its help and also fundraise for its new appeal.
Wayne explained: “Both my partner’s Jane’s parents are being treated for cancer and she has also lost a close friend who was only in her 40s to the disease, so my family knows all too well the huge impact cancer has on families.
“I started attending DCCF events and was really impressed by the way they help Dorset families which are struggling financially because of cancer.
“So when they said they wanted to get the word out there about what they do, I knew I could help.
“My van travels all across the area and is pretty eye-catching, so I just added the DCCF logo to the sides and back.
“Now it really shouts DCCF at everyone who sees it and hopefully it will inspire people who need the charity to contact it, as well as encouraging more people to fundraise for it.”
Dorset Cancer Care Foundation was started by a group of local people in Poole five years ago and gives grants to help cancer patients meet the cost of everything from transport to and from hospital, to wigs and other specialist equipment, household costs and much needed short breaks.
To mark its anniversary it has launched the High Five Campaign, which aims to raise £250,000 by November 2019. People are being asked to give £5 (or more) to the campaign by texting DCCF00 £5 to 70070, every penny of which will go to a Dorset family struggling because of cancer.
